Message from Lesley

In the past 25 years of LAMA Ministries history we have earned a reputation with local Social Services as a Residential facility meeting high standards and reaching beyond accepted results to change lives. With your help we have served hundreds of children and adults.

As we celebrate our achievements and advancements and focus on providing our current, critical services our goal is to end the cycle of abuse and neglect for increasing numbers of children. I cringe every time I hear stories of little ones hiding in closets, parents beating their children, and teens roaming the streets longing for someone to care.

As a result of their past experiences  many of our boys suffer behavioral and emotional disorders, others suffer developmental or medical challenges resulting from exposure to substance abuse or life on the streets. Ranging in age from seven to twenties they have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. They have lost everything; their families, their friends, the familiar neighborhood, their education, and any sense of belonging.  But I continue to be encouraged as I witness the heartfelt dedication of LAMA House staff and supporters who are making a difference—they are being used by God to re-design the futures of these children.

Traveling throughout England I have met many donors who share similar ideals: to improve the lives of children and to break this awful cycle of abuse for more and more youngsters. Singles, couples, families and churches who open their hearts to help us not only give these children a safe place to live, they give them hope.  You cannot know how vital that is until you look into an upturned face that has lost all traces of hope.  Together we can replace that look with a sparkling joy, as it should be!
