Lesley Gomez left England at 22 to serve as a missionary in the Philippines. Today she and her husband Peter run LAMA, a charity and safe house for the abandoned boys of the streets.
The name LAMA is taken from the Bible in John 10:10 New King James Version, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Life And More Abundant Ministries was founded in 1983 by Lesley Keenan, as a Charity to spread the Good News of God’s love and the teachings of Jesus. This led Lesley to establish a children’s home in the Philippines for boys in crisis situations.
Since 1997 LAMA House has provided long term residential care for boys aged 9—19 who have suffered neglect, abuse or have been abandoned. LAMA House is licensed and accredited with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippines.
Many children know the hurt and disappointment of cruelty and rejection. They long to feel love, acceptance and stability. Sadly, the number of children and families needing our help continues to grow. Although LAMA House cannot replace a healthy family unit we can introduce the boys to a God who loves them perfectly. As they experience God’s love and a personal relationship with Him we can break the patterns of abuse and dysfunction that cripple so many of our children today.
